day 53 {new product #FAIL}

The other day while at my parents place I saw this ad on TV.  I can’t even begin to describe how frustrated this makes me.  Are you serious Kleenex?  Way to breed more germaphobes with weak immune systems, kill trees and produce more waste all at the same time.
Seriously.  Seriously!!  How dirty does one hand towel get after a day?  If you are that paranoid, then change it every day.  I don’t know of many people who only own one hand towel.  And anyway, I don’t know of many hand towels that get as grungy as that ad shows after just one day.
How does a product like this come about, in an age where so many people are trying to get away from disposable everything?
I could go on and on ranting about how utterly ridiculous this is.  But rather than listening to my aggravated babble, go here and read what this website had to say about it: Earths Friends, or just google “kleenex hand towels bad for the environment” and find many other people ranting about it like me.

    If people would wash their hands properly, the towel would last much longer before it got grungy! I was thinking the same thing when I saw this commercial- outrage and annoyance. :)

    My hand towels get this grungy after each use… But then I guess if I used soap and water it might not… My kids get so grossed out when I don't wash our lone towel for weeks… I just do't understand…

    Speaking about disposable everything, have I ever told you about the Diva Cup? It's a replacement for tampons/pads and is pretty much the best invention, well, ever. After you insert it, you only have to empty it a few times per day (depending on your flow) – and you can even pee with it in. You don't have to always worry about discretely carrying supplies with you to the bathroom in public. It is fabulous!
