day 161: our little farm

I took this footage last summer when I first got my 7D (the first day I had it), and never did anything with it.
The recent cold weather made me want to think of warmer times…so I threw these clips together with some summery old timey music.

day 160: the video.

Our internet was down from Friday evening till Monday afternoon. But since WordPress has this clever little option to post on whatever date I want, I can make it look like I posted Sunday. But we all know it’s Tuesday.
Here’s the video that I made for Dave’s work at church. He’s been trying to get all the sound tech people together for a meeting on proper protocol, but can’t seem to get them in the same place at once. So we made a little video for them to watch, and hopefully enjoy.
This is the biggest project I’ve done with my 7D so far, and I’m still not used to the manual focus while filming. Tricky. I’m also used to using programs that are a little better than iMovie, but alas! That is all I have on my computer right now. (I’ve got the Final Cut discs, but when I tried to install it, it did funny things to my Aperture library. I think there’s a certain way you have to install if you have Aperture).
We also didn’t film enough clips for the first section, so if any clips look like the were reused…then…yes….
Oh, and you should watch it in a higher resolution. It will be more awesome. Don’t watch it in the default 360p. Yuck.

day 158: dave’s special dinner.

Today was Dave’s b-day! THe above picture is Dave warming his hands on the 29 candles…and consequently trying to blow them out (which took a few tries).
Today we went to the most fab little Vietnamese restaurant in Abbotsford called “New Saigon”. Dave’s favourite meal there is called the “Henry’s Special”, which today he has officially rated as his top 3 favourite restaurant dishes. I always get the hot pot soup, which…seriously…is the most amazing soup I’ve ever tasted. An added bonus–New Saigon is totally reasonably priced. Best Vietnamese in town. Fo’ shiz.
I didn’t take any pictures at dinner today though, because I’ve been a spacey blogger lately and haven’t brought my camera anywhere really. *sigh*

I will be a better blogger.

day 157: dave solo, galactic hero.

Ach, I’ve been a bad blogger.
I hate when I’m a bad blogger.
Today we had a mini b-day party for Dave. His birthday is tomorrow, and we are celebrating with the rest of the family in March when we can all get together. He turned 29. Can you believe it? Next year I will be married to a 30 year old. Dave can hardly believe it himself.
While we were in the car today, we had this conversation:
Courteney: The weather is so cold. Next year this time, let’s fly to Vegas and celebrate your birthday.
Dave: Yeah, but that’s something I’d want to do on my 30th birthday.
Courteney: It will be your 30th birthday.
Dave: No, I’m turning 29 next year.
Courteney: No, you’re turning 29 this year.
Dave: *silence* Oh. Yeah! That’s a great idea. Let’s go to Vegas next year.

Hah…

The above picture is the card I made him. Since we couldn’t afford to get the entire present he requested, I made up for it with an awesome card. It’s Dave as Hans Solo, riding the Millennium Falcon, shooting a Nazi war plane. Inside it says “Hope your birthday is a blast.”
Not bad.

PS: Monday I fell down some stairs at a friends place. I went to the doctor today and he said I sprained my ribs. Ouch. It’s kind of awkward.
