Project 52 – A portrait(s) of my child once a week, every week in 2014.
Week 47: Sick Day
14 months
Lucy woke up at midnight last night full of snot and sadness, which of course meant that my night was shot. By 3AM I had her asleep again, only for her to wake up for the day at 5:30. OY. She’s never actually had a runny nose like this, so it’s a bit of a new thing for us…everything is covered in snot and I feel like I’m constantly running after her with kleenex. Thankfully, she loves kleenex and thinks it’s a treat so we’re all good. I took these pictures after she got into some kleenex while I was on the phone. Look at that sweet little snotty face! Haha.

Week 46: Colder Days
14 months
We’ve been having really lovely fall days here lately–nice and cold and sunny. Today Lucy and I were going to go out for a walk to the park, but I didn’t plan well and it was getting a little too close to nap time to do anything at the park. We ended up playing in the backyard; something that we don’t do too often because it’s not the nicest space to be in. I really wanted to be outside a bit with her and enjoy the weather though. Plus, we FINALLY found her a nice winter coat yesterday at Old Navy (and it was 30% off!) and I wanted her to wear it a bit today. Funny story: When we came home with the coat, I realized it is exactly the same as my winter coat. This has been happening a lot more than I’d like to admit, and it’s completely unintentional. I am creating a mini-me.
Also: I didn’t know I had this toque, and found it in her winter stuff that I had packed away. I have no idea who gave it to us (it’s homemade too!), but it’s SO adorable.

Week 45: A whole new world!
13.5 months
Dave and I have both agreed from the very beginning that we should be careful about the amount of technology/digital entertainment Lucy is exposed to (especially now at such a young age). Every now and then I will let her hold my phone on the forward facing camera (while I try to do shopping–she HATES the stroller). Since we only have Netflix on our computer and no TV it’s been easy to limit the amount of shows she watches too. Today was a first though-she played on the iPad all by herself while I worked on her One Year Book. She was pretty excited to get a whole half hour to hold the iPad herself. It’s amazing how entertained she can be by a simple app (Winnie the Pooh, and later some National Geographic kids app). I can see how easy it could be to have that turn in to a babysitter! Thankfully she loves her other toys too and (unless we give it to her all the time) I don’t foresee her being insistent on it (for now! haha).
