coming together…coming soon.

I was testing out how to display product for our Chatty Budgies shop today. This lovely little number will be one of the items for sale in the shop (er, it will be ironed in the picture for the shop though. heheh) Andrea and I have been working hard at getting everything together, and have set a deadline of September 1 to have our stuff online and launch the site. I know, I know. I kept saying that it would be up end of spring early summer. But…I guess I over estimated the workload of owning your own photography business, working a separate part time job, volunteering at a church and starting an online retail shop (on top of trying to live a life as well!)
But we are very close. Product is made and ready to be photographed, tags are in the works, website is looking good…Yep. It’s taken a while.
But I think the shop will be very exciting. Who knows…maybe one day we’ll be physically opening a little happy shop somewhere in the fraser valley. You know…dream big, right?

happy canada day!

I wore my sweet new red gingham bathing suit from Mod Cloth, (with a skirt overtop, of course) and a prototype Chatty Budgies headband, with red lipstick in honour of my favourite countries birthday.
Happy Canada Day, everyone!
Huzzah for holidays! :)

chatty budgies: workday!

Today Andrea & I had our first official Chatty Budgies workday! We have both been sewing independently, but have decided that for the sake of continuity with product we should sew together. It was a very productive day, making patterns and planning packaging. I love doing this so much! I’m so excited to get some product up online. It has taken longer than expected, but isn’t that how it always goes? Our goal is to have pictures taken in two weeks so that we can finally post & sell stuff.

day 148: untitled…a post about nothing.

I really wonder if posting something when I have nothing to share is worth it. I mean…I have things to share…they just need to wait.
For example…Chatty Budgies is coming along quite nicely. We had a meeting today and went over some product that we made in the last two weeks. I bought a domain and will be working on a website in the next two weeks. I can’t really show anything, because I want it all to be launched at the same time when everything is finished. So…stay tuned for Chatty Budgies.
I also have been working on a little song that I was going to post on Valentines day, but it appears I have run out of time. I will definitely be posting it in the next few weeks.
And speaking of Valentines day…Tomorrow evening Dave and I are heading out to Vancouver. (See above–partially packed) We will be spending the night at my brothers place, and then Valentines day we will be spending time in our favourite part of Vancouver (Main St.) In the evening we will be heading to VSO (Vancouver Symphony Orchestra). I will be wearing my most wonderful dress that I made. Huzzah! You will most likely see pictures posted in retrospect, since I will be away from my computer till Tuesday.
Ok. So this post was boring.
I promise not to suck at blogging in the future. Heh…*sigh*

day 146: wthw {fail}

You see all these lovely little swatches of fabric? I spent a long time measuring and carefully cutting them out. These are the beginnings of some accessories for Chatty Budgies. And then when I went to sew them just now…I realized I cut them all half the size they are supposed to be. Seriously. It’s not a huge deal…but really…It just means more cutting for me. And now I’m tired.

Today was an errand day. Lots of running around town getting things done. I did a lot, but it seemed I didn’t get a lot done. Ever have one of those days? Yarg. Perhaps that’s why I cut all these pieces of fabric wrong. I’m so miffed.
On the plus side…I found the most amazing thing EVER at MCC that I will blog about tomorrow. Stay tuned.
